This website is designed to help Michigan State University (MSU) Writing, Rhetoric, and American Cultures (WRAC) Master of Arts (MA) students through their portfolio writing process. As a recently graduated WRAC MA student who completed the portfolio option for graduation, much of that process is fresh in my mind. I’ve created this site as a way to give guidance to current and future MSU WRAC MA students who are considering the portfolio option. I hope that this site will help you decide if the portfolio option is right for you and how you might best complete a successful, robust, and fulfilling portfolio.
As you navigate through the site, you will notice that there will be many sections for the different phases of the portfolio writing process. This site is intended to be a guide from the very beginning of the portfolio—when you’re still deciding if it’s the right option for you—to the final steps to finalize your portfolio.
Creating a guide for portfolios can be tricky, since there’s no formula for the portfolio. There aren’t sections of the portfolio that must be included to be certified and the projects can vary in scope, modality, topic, and length. However, there are some useful strategies to consider when embarking on the portfolio project. This site is designed to share those strategies in an organized way as you move through each phase of your portfolio.
Thank you for visiting the site, and I hope that you find this guide useful.
